Reflect on this

Shikwa e zulmate shab sey tu kaheen behter thha;

Apnay hissay ki koie shama jalatey jatey;

ﺷﻜﻮﻩ ﻇﻠﻤﺖ ﺷﺐ ﺳﮯ ﺗﻮ ﻛﮭﻴﮟ ﺑﮭﺘﺮ ﺗﮭﺎ

ﺁﭘﻨﮯ ﺣﺼﮯ ﻛﯽ ﻛﻮ ﯼ ﺷﻢ ﺀ ﺟﻼﺗﮯ ﺟﺎﺗ

This is Ahmed Faraz giving us very valuable advice!

Too often, we get lost in talking about the challenges we face and yet, if we started spending some of our time, correcting some of them, even at the micro level, things would become better. For instance, a dear friend, , Salman Hafeez, he stopped talking and started a school for poor children. Now, the school boasts almost 500 students!

So, lets light it up a little.

    Thanks for sharing this.

    Listen to Ahmed Faraz reading the ghazal from which the above couplet is taken:

    Some of my other favourites from the ghazal:

    silsile toR gayaa vo sabhii jaate jaate
    varnaa itne to maraasim the ke aate jaate

    uskii vo jaane usse paas-e-vafaa thaa ke na thaa
    tum “Faraz” apnii taraf se to nibhaate jaate
