Insightful reflections of a fellow blogger on the Diderot Effect
I think I should say a few words about the Diderot effect, here too, so people know what the link leads to.
Basically, this is a term named after the author who first described the situation. The situation he described concerned the gift of a robe he received, and how this item lead him, purchase by purchase, into debt and unhappiness. After the gift subsequent purchases were made so that other objects he had in the vicinity of the spectacular coat would go nicely with it.
